Is Obamacare constitutional?

If Obamacare becomes the law of the land and every citizen is required to purchase health insurance what is to stop a future republican president from mandating gun ownership for all Americans? Under the commerce clause argument this plan seems just as valid as forcing people to buy insurance. Both are a private product and both contribute to the welfare of the society.
